Vehicle Operation Safety Specialist

Role Description The Vehicle Operation Safety Specialist role is a contract, on-site position based in Detroit, MI. In this role, the specialist will oversee daily vehicle safety operations, monitor compliance with health and safety standards, and support the implementation of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) policies. The specialist will conduct routine inspections, identify potential hazards, and coordinate corrective actions to reduce risk and improve safety performance. Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering safety training to vehicle operators and support staff, conducting accident and incident investigations, and preparing clear documentation and reports for management and regulatory bodies. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to promote a strong safety culture, refine safety procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in vehicle operations.

Qualifications

 - Safety Case & Readiness Review: Ability to evaluate safety release cases and risk documentation to determine operational readiness.

 - Technical Documentation & Reporting: Strong written communication skills to produce clear inspection reports, audit findings, safety assessments, and risk registers.

• Strong background in Safety Training, with the ability to design and deliver effective training programs for diverse teams.
• Proficiency in Accident Investigation, including root cause analysis, reporting, and development of preventive measures.
• Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards for vehicle operation and industrial environments.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to collaborate with operations, engineering, and HR teams, and to influence safety practices positively.
• Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in safety management, occupational health, engineering, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST, or equivalent) are a plus.
