Role Description This is an on-site, contract role for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Technician located in Peoria, IL. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Technician will perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operation. Daily responsibilities include identifying mechanical issues, troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, and completing repairs using appropriate tools and techniques. The role involves documenting work performed, maintaining accurate service records, and communicating clearly with supervisors and operators about equipment status and repair timelines. The technician will also follow all safety protocols, adhere to company and industry standards, and support continuous improvement of maintenance practices in a fast-paced work environment.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance, including preventive service and routine inspections.
- Hands-on experience with Equipment Repair for Heavy Equipment, such as loaders, excavators, trucks, or similar machinery.
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues using diagnostic tools and manuals.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, service manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices, OSHA guidelines, and proper use of tools and protective equipment.
- Relevant technical certification or vocational training in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment technology, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic in construction, mining, industrial, or fleet environments is highly beneficial.
- Reliable work ethic, strong attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
