Position Overview

The Project Superintendent will serve as the primary coordinator of site logistics operations for a large-scale construction project. This role is responsible for overseeing daily dispatch activities (including pilot cars and specialized transport), managing on-site labor personnel, ensuring smooth delivery and movement of materials, and serving as the key liaison between the logistics team and general contractors, subcontractors, and site leadership. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in dynamic jobsite environments where coordination and communication are critical.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Dispatch Coordination

  • Oversee daily dispatch operations for pilot cars, delivery vehicles, and special transport services.
  • Develop and maintain delivery schedules, routes, and staging plans to minimize downtime and site congestion.
  • Monitor real-time logistics activity and resolve issues involving delays, staffing, or equipment.
  • Coordinate with trucking partners, vendors, and internal transportation groups.

Labor Personnel Management

  • Oversee on-site labor teams including spotters, flaggers, equipment operators, and support staff.
  • Create daily work assignments and oversee labor productivity and time tracking.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training logistics support personnel.
  • Enforce safety, compliance, and performance standards at all times.

Construction Site Liaison

  • Serve as primary logistics point of contact for the General Contractor (GC), subcontractors, and site supervisors.
  • Attend jobsite coordination meetings and construction progress updates.
  • Communicate site access plans, delivery sequencing, and traffic control requirements.
  • Work with GCs to resolve conflicts involving site access, crane activity, laydown areas, and delivery timing.

Planning & Process Management

  • Develop and manage logistics plans, trucking schedules, bussing schedules and site circulation routes.
  • Ensure all vehicles, pilot cars, and crews are compliant with DOT, safety, and project-specific requirements.
  • Optimize logistics workflow to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and support construction timelines.
  • Track KPIs including delivery timing, labor utilization, equipment hours, and incident reports.

Compliance & Safety

  • Maintain full compliance with state DOT rules, jobsite safety protocols, and GC-specific requirements.
  • Implement and enforce traffic control and jobsite access safety procedures.
  • Conduct spot safety audits and logistics-related incident investigations.

Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of construction logistics or heavy civil / infrastructure project logistics experience.
  • Previous experience managing dispatch, pilot cars, or specialized/oversized loads strongly preferred.
  • Experience working directly with General Contractors and subcontractors on active jobsites.
  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
  • Proficiency with dispatch tracking software, scheduling tools, or fleet management systems.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with changing priorities.
  • OSHA certification or traffic control certification a plus.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
