Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics using automotive electrical systems, schematics, and specialized tools to identify mechanical or electronic issues.
- Conduct repairs on transmissions, suspensions, brakes, shocks & struts, hydraulics, air brake systems, and other mechanical components.
- Maintain and repair heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, bulldozers, and farm machinery using fabrication skills and heavy equipment operation knowledge.
- Execute vehicle maintenance tasks including tire service, wheel alignments, welding, welding repairs, and power tool-assisted assembly or disassembly of parts.
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, HVAC systems, electrical systems, powertrains, and vehicle systems for trucks and trailers.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to perform precise repairs; demonstrate strong mechanical knowledge in heavy truck repair and industrial equipment maintenance.
- Support customer service by explaining repairs clearly to clients and ensuring their vehicles or equipment are returned in optimal condition with safety standards met.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as an auto mechanic or in heavy equipment mechanics within a dealership or industrial setting.
- Strong background in automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance, transmission repair, suspension systems, hydraulics, and electrical system repair.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical repair tools.
- Knowledge of heavy machinery operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers; familiarity with schematics is highly desirable.
- Ability to lift heavy components safely during repairs; experience with heavy lifting techniques required.
- Certification or experience in diesel mechanics or heavy truck repair is preferred; familiarity with HVAC systems is a plus.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude combined with customer service skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
