Mechanical Design Engineer

Company Overview

Partnered with an established global engineering and industrial machinery manufacturer specialising in the design and manufacture of automated surface treatment and process equipment.

The business is growing rapidly, and I am currently seeking two Mechanical Design Engineers with 3 years’ experience in mechanical design to join the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, machinery, and systems in line with project requirements.
• Produce detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using SolidWorks.
• Manage design activities to ensure projects meet required performance, quality, cost, and schedule targets.
• Apply appropriate mechanical engineering standards, principles, specifications, and techniques.
• Select suitable materials, components, and manufacturing processes for mechanical designs.
• Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and suitable for manufacture.
• Support the development, testing, modification, and continuous improvement of new and existing products.
• Identify and resolve mechanical design, manufacturing, and technical issues.
• Incorporate hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems into machine and equipment designs where required.
• Prepare and maintain accurate engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other technical documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders throughout the design and development process.
• Support design reviews, product improvements, and engineering change processes.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage competing priorities effectively while working to project deadlines.
• Undertake limited travel as required to support customers, suppliers, site activities, or projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering qualification.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in machine design or a similar mechanical design environment.
• Minimum 3 years' professional experience using SolidWorks.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with a practical understanding of machine design and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to apply mechanical engineering standards, principles, and techniques to practical design challenges.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing methods.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and/or pneumatics.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Good organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to work to project deadlines.
• Willingness to undertake limited travel as required.
