Lightning Lawn & Landscape, part of ACE Outdoor Services, is hiring an experienced Hardscape & Heavy Equipment Crew Leader for our South Lyon/Brighton team.
This is a hands-on landscape construction and hardscape position for someone who knows how to operate equipment, build quality projects, and lead work in the field.
This is NOT a lawn mowing or lawn maintenance position.
WHAT YOU’LL DO- Operate skid steers, mini excavators, and other landscape construction equipment
- Perform excavation, grading, site preparation, and finish work
- Install paver patios, walkways, retaining walls, stone, and other hardscape features
- Prepare proper bases and ensure correct elevations, drainage, and grading
- Lead and work alongside a landscape construction crew
- Review job scopes and ensure projects are completed according to plan
- Load, unload, and safely transport equipment and materials
- Maintain equipment and report repair or maintenance needs
- Identify jobsite challenges and make effective field decisions
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites
- Ensure completed work meets ACE Outdoor Services quality standards
- Previous hardscape or landscape construction experience required
- Skid steer and mini excavator experience required
- Experience installing pavers, retaining walls, patios, and similar projects
- Strong understanding of grading, base preparation, drainage, and elevations
- Ability to safely operate commercial landscape equipment
- Crew leadership or foreman experience strongly preferred
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to perform physical outdoor work in changing weather conditions
- Dependable, safety-focused, and able to take ownership of projects
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Prefer building projects over mowing lawns
- Are comfortable operating equipment every day
- Can look at a jobsite and understand what needs to happen next
- Take pride in clean, professional hardscape installations
- Can lead a crew while still working alongside them
