Position Overview
We’re looking for a skilled Tool and Die Setup Technician to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot metal stamping presses and dies in our fabrication shop. You’ll be a key player keeping our presses running safely and efficiently as we expand our spool and carrier production lines.
What You’ll Do
- Set up, align, and adjust metal stamping dies on mechanical and hydraulic presses (15–200 ton range)
- Perform routine maintenance, sharpening, and polishing of dies, punches, and tooling components
- Diagnose and repair press or die performance issues (burrs, wear, misalignment, etc.)
- Read and interpret blueprints and die drawings to ensure part accuracy
- Collaborate with toolmakers, welders, and operators during changeovers and improvements
- Maintain documentation for setups, adjustments, and die history
- Follow all safety and lockout/tagout procedures
Qualifications
- 3 years’ experience in tool and die setup or metal stamping press operation
- Strong mechanical aptitude and precision mindset
- Able to read engineering drawings and use measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
- Experience with progressive or single-hit dies preferred
- Basic machining or grinding experience a plus
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and work in an active production setting
- High school diploma or trade/technical training required
