The ACE Mentor Program of Clevland is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that is a local affiliate chapter of a national non-profit organization that educates high school students about the architecture, construction, and engineering (ACE) industry. Many students are unaware of the different careers within the ACE industry. The program showcases different pathways for students into the industry and the careers available to them. This is accomplished by mentoring students through hands-on activities that mimic real world problems.

Currently the ACE Program of Cleveland assists more than 190 students annually across 12 high schools, with the goal of consistently growing the student population over the next several years. Students are mentored by volunteers who are professionals in the ACE industry. The program awarded over $ 800,000 in scholarship over the last 16 years and supports students with mentoring, camps and internships, and networking opportunities. The Cleveland chapter has connections and matching scholarship opportunities with four local higher education institutions as well as many partnerships within the ACE industry, who all support our students with funding, internships, and job shadowing.

The ACE Program of Cleveland is seeking an Operations Director to direct strategic and operational functions for the chapter. This position will work with our part-time Executive Director, who will overlap during a transition period. The Executive Director and the Operations Director are responsible for operating in accordance with the corporation’s by-laws, policies, budgets and standards established by the Board and ACE National and works closely with the Board of Directors (serving on various committees) to implement the corporation’s operations and strategy and drive the mission of the organization. Both the Executive Director and the Operations Director report to the Board Chair.

The Operations Director’s duties and responsibilities generally include:

Administrative

  • Support and drive the vision for the affiliate/chapter.
  • Work closely with the Finance Chair, the Board Chair, and the Executive team to help develop and vet the annual budget each year that is shared with the entire board.
  • Expand ACE Cleveland’s visibility inside and outside the AEC industry.
  • Planning and managing the organization’s events and activities including mentor and student outreach events, board meetings, mentor appreciation events, end of year student presentations and scholarship banquet, etc..

· Communicating reminders and checklists prior to events as part of the planning process.

  • Lead contracting and proposal requests for the organization in compliance with the executive committee and board approvals. Approve progressive payments according to those approved contracts and milestones.
  • Assist the Executive Director with compliance documentation required by ACE National
  • Assist the Executive Director with committee task follow up as it relates to the Strategic Plan
  • Assist the Executive Director and Finance Committee with grant management spending and tracking.

Program

· Foster relationships with schools, including meeting/developing school champions and garner interest in the program.

Track and communicate with participating schools

Work to deepen the support and participation at the current schools

Work and coordinate with Committee Chairs

Track and communicate with mentors

Work with the Programming and Education Committee to support database management.

Assist with the tracking and management of student enrollment

Assist the marketing committee in the development of materials to strengthen ACE brand awareness

Assist in finding additional mentors

Assist in the raising of operating and scholarship funds

Assist in development and track internships

Support the governance committee and its actions, including sourcing and recommending new board members who help fulfill strategic functions to support the mission

Assist in alumni outreach efforts with the career pathways committee

Assist the event and industry committee with its activities

Work as liaison with universities and colleges, industry associations, and the trades apprentice programs. Leads the effort of establishing new relationships as key contacts rotate and transition, so ACE continues with strong connections.

Board

  • Complete actions as assigned by the Board.
  • Assist in fundraising for ACE Cleveland by working with the Fundraising Committee, our grant writer, and developing other fundraising ideas.
  • Open and active communication with ACE Board on activities

Reporting

  • Provide information and reporting required by ACE National
  • Submit a report every other month of accomplishments, projects in process, and items completed as part of the strategic plan.
  • Insure that financial reporting and insurance reporting are maintained
  • Save and store all affiliate key legal documents, compliance items, templates, etc. in the microsoft teams ACE Mentor site as well as hard copy files.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or greater degree in non-profit management, public administration, human services or related field or commensurate work experience.

Job Qualifications

a. The successful candidate is a proven results-driven, leader with a sincere interest in furthering the mission of the ACE Mentor Program.

b. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work constructively with both industry professionals and high school students.

c. Strong oral and written communication skills.

d. Office and computer proficiency, with the ability to apply knowledge and skills in learning new software.

e. Preferably has executive nonprofit experience and success in fundraising

f. Be highly organized and a self-starter.

g. Preferred experience in philanthropy and/or nonprofit organizations.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
