Press Operator – Keyway Broaching – $24–$27/hr – Florence, KY
Ace Machine, Inc. | Full-time, 1st shift
Start anywhere between 5am and 9am, your choice. Get off early, sleep in, or work around daycare — as long as the parts are right.
You'll set up and run hydraulic broaching presses — vertical with push broaches, horizontal with pull broaches — cutting internal keyways in sprockets, sheaves, couplings, hubs, and sleeves, plus a manual drill press for setscrew holes. Lots run 1 to 100 pieces, most 5 to 10 — mild steel mostly, as well as some stainless and aluminum.
What you'll do
- Pick the broach, bushing, and shims for the print; set up and load the press
- Broach keyways to width, depth, and location; hold tolerance
- Drill and tap setscrew holes on the manual drill press
- Inspect first piece and in-process with gauges, pins, mics, and calipers; sign off to print
- Flag worn or chipped broaches before they scrap parts; keep tooling organized
What we're looking for
- Reliable, on time, honest about what you can't do yet Where you land in $24–$27:
- Lower end: some press or manual-machine experience; reads a print; uses calipers
- Middle: sets up unassisted, inspects to print with mics and gauges
- Top: all of that plus 3 years broaching keyways
At the interview you'll measure a bore and keyway to print with mics, calipers, and gauges, and answer some practical questions about press and broach work.
No experience? We'll train you Mechanically inclined, willing to learn, shows up every day. Starting pay set at the interview, with raises as you earn them.
Pay and benefits
- $24–$27/hr, placed by the hands-on interview
- 1st shift, 40 hrs; start anywhere 5am–9am
- Overtime voluntary, usually available, 1.5x over 40

- Stand for full shift; lift up to 50 lb — most setups hand-loaded; hoist on one press, forklift for heavy drill press work
No 401(k).
About the shop Ace Machine is a 20-person precision CNC job shop in Florence, KY, running since 2007 on repeat customers. CNC mills and lathes, wire EDM, and five broaching and drill presses — you own the presses. Small enough the owner knows your name and your work.
