Healthcare Students Wanted: Gain Hands-On Experience as a Personal Care Assistant
Are you a healthcare student seeking meaningful, hands-on experience working with adults with disabilities? We are looking for a reliable and respectful Personal Care Assistant to support a 44-year-old individual living with cerebral palsy who leads an active, independent, and professional life. This role emphasizes physical assistance and safety—not housekeeping or social support—and offers flexible hours that work well with an academic schedule.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance with personal care activities such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
- Support safe mobility, positioning, and transfers, including the use of mobility and assistive equipment
- Assist with medication reminders and adherence as needed
- Support physical tasks that enable independence at home and in the community
- Accompany and assist with transportation to appointments or work-related activities when required
- Observe and communicate any physical or health-related changes to the appropriate contact
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a healthcare-related academic program (nursing, pre-med, PT, OT, kinesiology, etc.)
- Professional, respectful, and dependable demeanor
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow care instructions
- Comfortable working with adults with physical disabilities
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check
