TOOL ROOM MACHINIST
Stabilus is a global leader in the production of gas springs and dampers on five continents. This position will be located at Ace Controls, a Stabilus company, a leader in the field of industrial damping technology. The company’s portfolio includes automation, control, motion control, vibration control and safety products We are seeking Assemblers to join our Team. This role has the responsibility and authority for performing tasks using tool room machines and equipment to produce component pieces which make up quality industrial shock absorbers.
Ace Controls is a great place to work! We are conveniently located in Farmington Hills close to several major expressways. Our facility is climate controlled, and safety is a top priority. We are looking for long-term employees and offer hands-on training. We have an open position on our 1st shift which runs from Monday - Thursday 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. There are opportunities for overtime on Friday and Saturday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Run manual machines including conventional open face lathes, lathe threading, Prototrak, Bridgeport mills, grinders, drill presses and other shop equipment.
- Ensure equipment is effectively utilized to efficiently accomplish all work.
- Complete Tool Room shop orders with the highest quality standard.
- Interpret job specification blueprints and job orders to determine machine adjustment and material requirements.
- Ensure daily production data, labor and quality recording is accurately compiled and reported daily.
- Continuously improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Perform deburring operations on machined parts.
- Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions.
- Performs complete preventative maintenance of machines.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
- Ability to setup and operate manual lathe and Bridgeport mills is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints, drawing or other specification and work in 10th of thousands. Must be able to identify and interpret GD&T symbols.
- Ability to machine various materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless, and specialty alloys.
- Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gage, electronic gages as well as hard go/no go gauging.
- Ability to perform complex mathematical process to execute machine settings and corrective actions.
