JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Installer / Finish Carpenter to join our team in Thousand Oaks / Conejo Valley on premium accessibility projects. In this role, you will oversee and execute the installation and finishing of custom accessibility solutions, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and craftsmanship. As a leader on site, you will coordinate with the estimator, the office dispatcher, licensed subs, and clients to deliver exceptional results that enhance mobility and independence for our clients. We help seniors stay safely in their homes through premium, clinically-informed accessibility upgrades. This is precision, finish-minded work in occupied homes - not handyman work.
WHO THIS ROLE IS PERFECT FOR
A systems-minded A-player who finds pride in clean protection, clean finishing, and clean documentation. We run checklists, photo QA, and "stop-the-line" hold points. If you dislike standards and documentation, this won't be a fit.
TYPICAL PROJECTS
- Grab bars (tile/stone) anchoring, safety rails/handrails
- Threshold/transition trip-hazard fixes, lever handles/hardware upgrades
- Modular aluminum ramps small carpentry modifications (as scoped)
- White-glove protection dust control premium closeouts in occupied homes
- Gate-based workflow: Pre-Start → Hidden Work Hold Point → Pre-Final QC → Client Walkthrough (Jobber)
FIRST 90 DAY PROJECTS (YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO LEAD)
- CleanCut tub conversions (kit-based installs with required photo hold points)
- Door widening carpentry (with correct escalation for structural/permit cases)
- Custom composite ramps (Trex/TimberTech style builds with defined standards QA hold points)
- Path lighting (battery/plug-in installs; coordination for hardwired work)
- We will provide SOPs, required photo sets, and training for each rollout scope. Your job is to execute them and improve them.
You are not expected to be a licensed electrician/plumber/lift installer. We use licensed subs/vendors when required. You coordinate access/protection and perform QC to our finish/safety standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead installs on-site; coordinate licensed subs when scheduled; mentor an apprentice as hired
- Set site protection and dust control; maintain a clean workspace throughout
- Lead a 5-minute pre-job brief (plan safety client expectations)
- Execute installs to spec; no "field improvisation"
- Use "stop-the-line" hold points and capture required photos before covering/closing
- Perform functional tests finish QC before client walkthrough
- Explain safe use, care/maintenance, and warranty/issue reporting at closeout
- Document photos, notes, checklists, and closeout in Jobber
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Finish-minded carpentry in occupied homes (clean protection, clean execution, clean closeout)
- Confident drilling tile/stone and executing load-rated anchoring methods
- Door work: door hanging/adjustments, jamb work, casing/trim, and door widening carpentry (with correct escalation for structural/permit cases)
- Exterior carpentry fundamentals for composite ramps (layout, framing discipline, fasteners, rails, slope/level verification)
- Skilled in using hand tools (hammers, saws, chisels), power tools (drills, saws)
- Dust control discipline (HEPA vacuuming, containment, protection)
- Documentation discipline: required photos, notes, and checklist completion in Jobber
- Client communication: calm, professional, able to explain plan safe use care/maintenance
NICE TO HAVE
- CleanCut (or similar kit-based tub conversion) experience (or willingness to learn fast)
- OSHA 10 (or complete within 30 days)
- Familiarity with electrical systems or plumbing where applicable
- Experience coordinating licensed subs (electric/plumbing) on scheduled jobs
- Familiarity with water damage restoration or mold remediation is a plus
PAY PLAN
- Base hourly pay ($32-$47/hour, DOE) OT eligible. Final rate set after paid audition based on finish quality documentation discipline.
- Job profit sharing (3%–6% of job gross profit) of jobs you lead. Based on KPIs including QC pass rate, % of avoidable callbacks, and completion of photo/checklist closeouts.
- Paid after final collection 14-day quality window. Profit-sharing is reported with a monthly job statement showing the calculation. Eligible upon successful completion of probation.
- Paid sick leave per CA law
MINIMUM-HOURS GUARANTEE
After a successful trial/probation period, we offer a guaranteed minimum hours/week commitment provided you maintain scheduled availability and meet quality/documentation standards. (Specific hours and timing discussed during the interview process.)
EQUIPMENT & LOGISTICS
- Vehicle: Reliable vehicle required for first 90 days (Mileage reimbursement provided for required business driving per IRS standard rate). Company van provided upon successful completion of probation.
- Tools: Company provides required specialty consumables and dust-control standards; you provide core trade tools and maintain an organized setup.
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- 7 years residential install/remodel experience (finish-minded)
- Proven ability drilling tile/stone cleanly and anchoring correctly
- Strong layout discipline (level/plumb/square) and clean finishing
- Valid driver's license reliable transportation; comfortable driving between jobs
- Comfortable using a smartphone for photos/checklists/job notes (Jobber)
- Professional in occupied homes (seniors): calm communication, respectful demeanor
- Willing to follow checklists and documentation requirements on every job
STRONGLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- OSHA 10 (Construction) or willing to complete within 30 days
- Ramps/handrails, bathroom safety upgrades, or accessibility experience
- Dust control experience in occupied homes
