The Data Operations Engineer Intern supports the Data Operations team in maintaining, improving, and optimizing data workflows and automation processes. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining basic automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Bash to support data collection and system monitoring.
- Support the maintenance and documentation of data pipelines, ensuring smooth and reliable operation.
- Collaborate with the Data Operations team to design, build, and refine monitoring tools that track system performance and help proactively identify issues under supervision.
- Help test and deploy small-scale automation or monitoring tools.
- Write and maintain unit tests for new and existing automation and data processes to ensure reliability and performance.
- Contribute to internal documentation and process improvement efforts.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and project updates to gain exposure to industry best practices.
- Current student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Basic understanding of data processing or database management concepts (SQL familiarity preferred).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and eagerness to learn new technologies.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Exposure to version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Interest in weather technology, data analytics, or large-scale systems operations.
- Technical: Python, PowerShell, SQL, automation, and cloud data environments.
- Soft Skills: Curiosity, attention to detail, adaptability, clear communication, and collaboration in an agile setting.
