Job Summary:
The Plant Controller serves as the on-site financial leader for the Precision Parts division, providing hands-on oversight of all plant-level accounting activities, financial reporting, and cost management. This role ensures accurate, timely financial information to support operational decision-making, maintain compliance, and strengthen internal controls. The Plant Controller works closely with the General Manager, Corporate Finance, and on-site Operations to achieve financial transparency and drive performance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all plant-level accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll review, and month-end close.
- Prepare, analyze, and submit timely monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and operational performance reports to Corporate Finance.
- Ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies, GAAP standards, and internal controls.
- Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and oversee fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules.
Cost Accounting & Inventory
- Manage standard costing, bill of materials, labor/overhead rates, and cost roll-ups for the Precision Parts division.
- Monitor production costs, scrap, yield, labor efficiency, and other key manufacturing metrics.
- Lead quarterly and annual inventory counts; ensure accuracy of inventory valuation and transaction integrity.
- Partner with operations to identify cost reduction opportunities and evaluate financial impact of process changes.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Develop the plant’s annual budget in coordination with division leadership and corporate finance.
- Provide monthly forecasts, risk/opportunity analyses, and financial modeling to support strategic decisions.
- Track performance against budget and proactively communicate deviations.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Maintain strong internal controls while ensuring transparency and accuracy in reporting.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, audit requirements, and state/federal regulations.
- Support both internal and external audits and lead remediation efforts when needed.
Operational Partnership
- Serve as the financial advisor to the General Manager and department leaders by translating data into actionable insights.
- Provide analysis on pricing, margin performance, capital expenditure, labor utilization, and equipment investments.
- Participate in cost reviews, production meetings, and cross-functional initiatives.
Leadership & Support
- Supervise and develop any on-site accounting staff or shared administrative resources assigned to financial functions (if applicable).
- Partner with corporate accounting teams to ensure consistency in financial processes and reporting.
- Facilitate communication between plant operations and corporate finance to maintain alignment and accountability.

Preferred
- Experience in precision machining or metal manufacturing industries.
- Prior experience as a Plant Controller, Assistant Controller, or Cost Accounting Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise and develop any on-site accounting staff or shared administrative resources assigned to financial functions (if applicable).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Preferred - CPA or CMA certification.
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an office environment located within an active manufacturing plant.
- Regular use of a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
- Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout production areas to observe processes, verify inventory, and conduct audits.
- Must be able to lift, carry, or move up to 15 pounds occasionally (e.g., files, binders, inventory samples, or equipment documentation).
- Ability to safely navigate the plant environment, including around machinery, material-handling equipment, and uneven surfaces.
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering designated areas of the facility.
Salary : $90,000 - $115,000
