Job Title: Machine Tool Technician
Basic Functions:
1. Layout, dismantle, overhaul, build and repair tools, jigs, gages, fixtures, machines and other equipment to proper working order.
2. Working from visual or verbal instructions, make parts to any tolerance regardless of ultimate use and, where necessary, perform skilled fitting work associated with same.
3. Develop size of blanks to specifications for parts of any configuration. Understand various applications of ejection microswitch and feed functions. Be responsible for proper functioning of work assigned.
4. Perform skilled fitting and alignment of bearings, bushings, spindles, punches, etc. and, where necessary, install and adjust feed arrangements and lubrication systems.
5. Perform work which contributes to any machine and tooling operation or repair (e.g., silver solder mold cavities, braze part, fit coolant line)
6. Direct, instruct and assist apprentices or other employees as assigned.
7. Must have knowledge and understanding of heat treating, brazing, etc. and be able to perform same when required.
8. Must understand blueprints, sketches and schematics and be capable of producing a working sketch.
9. Keep necessary records and keep work area clean.
10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned as a result of Continuous Improvement or to facilitate product flow.

4. Technicians who have been trained for a process or task which require current training by procedure, guideline, or policy are required to advise supervisor of upcoming training needs to remain current. (Powered Industrial Truck Licenses are a good example).
Qualifications:
Experience Requirements: Must have the equivalence of 6 years (10,000 hours minimum) of apprenticeship training certified by the Virginia Apprenticeship Council, and must possess Journeyman Tool and Die Maker, or Machine Tool Technician certification.
Education and Licensing Requirements: High School diploma or GED is required.
Physical Working Conditions (Physical Capacity): Should be able to withstand normal standing activities, lifting up to 25 pounds routinely and up to 60 pounds on an occasional basis. Environmental conditions are generally good. Regular exposure / contact with lubricating oil. Should have nominally good eyesight, eye-to-hand coordination, depth perception and color vision.

Pay: $42.26 - $46.25 per hour
