Human Resources Supervisor

Reports To: Distribution Center Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Note: This operation runs 24/7, and schedules are determined by operational volume and regional needs. Weekend availability is required, and facilities may have varied closure schedules depending on client requirements.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Supervisor serves as the primary HR partner for the distribution center, supporting all aspects of human resources, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compliance, benefits administration, payroll support, training, and workforce development. This role works closely with operational leadership to ensure HR initiatives align with business objectives while fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources Leadership

  • Partner with distribution center leadership to provide guidance and recommendations on all human resources matters.
  • Support workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, and staffing initiatives for both direct-hire and temporary employees.
  • Ensure company policies, procedures, and employment practices are consistently applied.
  • Facilitate effective communication between employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Monitor workplace culture and employee engagement, proactively addressing concerns and opportunities for improvement.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Coordinate and support performance management programs, ensuring expectations, evaluations, and development plans are completed accurately and on time.
  • Investigate and respond to employee concerns, complaints, and workplace issues.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers regarding employee relations matters and corrective action processes.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze trends, and recommend retention and engagement improvements.

Recruitment, Onboarding & Training

  • Oversee recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding processes.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and ensure compliance with onboarding requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor training initiatives to support employee development and operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate training programs and facilitate HR-related training sessions as needed.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records, organizational charts, HR documentation, and employee files.
  • Ensure all employment eligibility verification documentation is completed and maintained properly.
  • Track compensation ranges, hiring compliance, and personnel status changes.
  • Stay current on employment law updates and HR best practices.

Benefits, Payroll & Workers' Compensation

  • Serve as a resource for employee benefits inquiries and assist with open enrollment activities.
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Support workers' compensation administration, claims management, and return-to-work processes.
  • Coordinate unemployment claims responses and represent the organization during hearings when necessary.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and support daily HR department activities.
  • Mentor and develop HR staff to ensure effective execution of HR processes and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive organizational success.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

QualificationsEducation & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive HR Generalist and/or HR Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll, workers' compensation, and compliance.
  • Previous experience supporting warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or production environments preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of distribution center operations and workforce management.
  • Strong team-oriented leadership style.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, and applicant tracking systems preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb stairs and move throughout a warehouse/distribution center environment.

Work Environment

  • Distribution center environment with varying temperatures.
  • Regular interaction with office, warehouse, and operational personnel.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and responsiveness to business needs.
