Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Installation: Installing new heating, cooling, and ventilation systems according to blueprints and building codes.
- Maintenance: Performing preventative maintenance, such as cleaning ducts, checking filters, and lubricating motors to ensure optimal performance.
- Repair & Troubleshooting: Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, repairing or replacing worn parts like compressors, fans, and motors.
- System Testing: Calibrating thermostats, testing pipe joints for leaks, and testing electrical circuits using specialized tools.
- Compliance & Safety: Following safety protocols (OSHA) and ensuring all work complies with environmental regulations, particularly concerning refrigerant handling.
- Customer Service: Discussing malfunctions with clients, providing repair recommendations, and ensuring high customer satisfaction.
- Data Management: Accurately update customer information, work orders, and service records in CRM software (Housecall Pro).
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: At least 2 years of HVAC residential and/or light commercial field experience required.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of HVAC fundamentals, refrigeration cycles, and electrical circuits.
- Certifications: EPA Certification is required; NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification is highly preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces (attics/crawlspaces), and withstand varied temperatures.
- Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of an HVAC training program or apprenticeship highly preferred but not required.
- Tools: Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment (multimeters, pressure gauges).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including CRM software (Housecall Pro experience a PLUS!), scheduling tools, and Google Workspace email.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse customer bases effectively but not required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to meet auto insurance requirements (MVR consent required).
- Strong field service skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently on-site under varying conditions.
- Be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background check.
