Job Description: As a Laser Operator you would be responsible for setup and operation of laser cutting machine, to process sheets into products. This work includes use of material handling equipment, part removal from cutting processes, part cleanup/sanding/deburr/remove oxides and packaging to meet customer orders for quality conforming parts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Read and follow instructions on job traveler
- Read and understand blueprints
- Use basic measure tools such as pins, caliper, tape measure, height gage
- Follow and document quality plan for inspection of parts
- Match material types, thickness and finish to requirements on the job traveler, material tags
- Recognize defects in parts, not limited to rust, damage, missing features, not matching print.
- Identify material type in conformance with print / job traveler specification
- Handle parts for the process and package according to instructions
- Label parts with matching job label including quantity and next operation
- Operate laser controls including loading programs, cut condition selection, cut condition settings to produce a part meeting specifications
- Maintain work areas and tooling to ensure a clean and safe environment this includes general cleaning and housekeeping.
Skills/Qualifications: General part handling and use of tools. Use of material handling equipment such as powered gantry overhead crane and forklift is desired but not required. Experience with laser controls. Shop experience is beneficial to success in this job. Process experience such as: remove oxides, multiple deburr methods and part packaging is desired. Will train the right candidate based on experience. Attention to processes, print and process requirements, quality control and following instruction are important skills for success in this role.
