Director Of Cybersecurity

Role Overview

The Cybersecurity Director is a strategic leader responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing ACI’s cybersecurity strategy. This role partners with business units and senior executives to ensure that critical infrastructure and information assets are protected, risks are managed, and compliance is maintained across all operations. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Cybersecurity Director collaborates closely with the Director of Engineering and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cybersecurity Program Leadership:

Develop, implement, and support cybersecurity programs for multiple internal groups, ensuring robust protection of critical infrastructure systems delivered to customers, as well as various support services and internal systems.

  • Frameworks & Compliance:

Provide expert guidance on cybersecurity frameworks (NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, IEC 62443, UL 2900) and ensure practical application for ACI, its customers, and partners.

  • Executive Engagement:

Advise and guide senior executives (CEO, CDO, COO, CFO, etc.) to support informed decision-making regarding cybersecurity needs. Provide regular detailed reports on cybersecurity compliance.

  • Policy & Risk Management:

Advocate for security policy compliance and risk mitigation during planning, implementation, and oversight of new services, applications, and products.

  • Communication & Training:

Translate complex cybersecurity concepts into actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive teams.

  • Threat Detection & Incident Response:

Lead threat detection, incident response, and forensic investigations, including penetration testing and malware analysis.

  • Customer & Insurance Collaboration:

Work directly with customers to address cybersecurity needs and compliance with specification and contract requirements for custom built critical infrastructure systems. Coordinate with insurance providers to ensure proper coverage.

  • External Partnerships:

Collaborate with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories and other testing organizations to identify system deficiencies, facilitate staff training, and pursue certifications.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate secure system deployments and remote connections with customer IT managers, administrators, and ACI internal teams.
  • Review project drawings and specifications to confirm cybersecurity requirements for deliverable critical infrastructure.
  • Monitor and verify ongoing compliance for all shipping systems and products.
  • Work closely with the Networking, Video Management System, Programming, Product Development, and other cross-functional teams to ensure that all new and existing products—including hardware, firmware, and software—meet established cybersecurity compliance standards.
  • Travel as necessary to engage with customers, vendors, and external partners to support projects and coordinate product testing activities.
  • Support sales and marketing in defining cybersecurity requirements for specifications and marketing materials.
  • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures for internal cybersecurity compliance.
  • Provide IT support and assist with other tasks as requested by the COO or Director of Engineering.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Deep understanding of security frameworks and standards (NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, IEC 62443, UL 2900).
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management, consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Industry-recognized certifications (CISM, CISSP, CEH, GIAC, Security , etc.).
  • Expertise in network security, firewalls, VPNs, cryptography, and secure architecture.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Management, or equivalent.
  • 7 years in IT or cybersecurity roles, with at least 4 years managing cybersecurity programs.
  • Strong track record in incident response and governance.
  • Ability to train, delegate, and lead teams in implementing cybersecurity directives.
  • This role is primarily on-site; however, 24/7 availability is required, including remote support as needed for incident containment.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
