Role Description The Energy Auditor is a full-time, on-site role based in Madison, WI. This role is responsible for performing comprehensive energy assessments on commercial, multifamily, and residential buildings, including on-site inspections of building envelopes, mechanical systems, and insulation. Day-to-day tasks include collecting field data with diagnostic tools (such as blower doors and infrared cameras), identifying energy efficiency opportunities, and preparing clear, actionable reports with recommendations for improvements. The Energy Auditor will collaborate with project coordinators, field technicians, and supervisors to verify air barrier performance, support envelope commissioning, and ensure quality standards are met. The role also involves communicating findings and recommendations to clients, answering questions, and providing professional customer support during and after site visits.
Qualifications
- Strong building assessment and field evaluation skills, including Inspection and Auditing experience.
- Knowledge of Energy Efficiency strategies, building science principles, and Energy Management best practices.
- Excellent Customer Service skills, with the ability to explain technical findings in clear, accessible language.
- Ability to work safely on active job sites, including use of ladders, basic hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for drafting reports and collaborating with team members and clients.
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills to manage multiple projects.
- Comfort working in varied field conditions (indoor/outdoor, different weather, different building types).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to job sites in the region.
- Preferred: Experience in construction, HVAC, building commissioning, or weatherization, and/or relevant certifications (e.g., BPI, RESNET, ASHRAE-related training).
