Job Overview

AccuMed is in a high growth phase and is seeking an operationally driven and strategically minded professional to continue development and expansion of our largest business segment: Expert Witness Services.


This role centers on delivering expert witness services to our clients, including the formation and defense of expert opinions related to the reasonable value of medical costs. The position will involve case-by-case analyses, depositions, and occasional courtroom testimony. Candidates must be confident in articulating and defending their opinions and conclusions in legal settings.

We are targeting professionals across various backgrounds including finance, accounting, economics, life care planning, and medical coding and billing, with knowledge of medical cost analysis, data analytics, financial analysis, and statistics.


Experts will leverage AccuMed’s industry-leading medical cost data and analytics platform to conduct sophisticated evaluations throughout the civil litigation process. Expert insights derived from these tools play a pivotal role in our clients’ cases; from early case assessment through trial.


Responsibilities

  • Essential duties include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with AccuMed’s Operations Team in producing reports that determine the reasonable value of medical damages.
  • Prepare clear, concise opinions explaining your analyses and methodologies.
  • Maintain quality control and accuracy of client deliverables.
  • Execute depositions and trial testimony with composure and confidence.
  • Oversee overall daily management of cases, including managing case timelines in conjunction with the client and the AccuMed Operations Team.
  • Develop and maintain excellent client and referral relationships and actively pursue and assist in business development efforts.


Qualifications & Skill Sets

  • Undergraduate or associate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in medical billing and coding, auditing, valuation, or data analytics; prior testimony experience on valuation or medical billing matters is a plus.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare valuation/expert reports and client communications.
  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional client service, build lasting client relationships, and work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure or in ambiguous situations.
  • Professional presence marked by confidence, composure, and sound ethical judgment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, including the willingness to pursue medical coding knowledge and certifications required for expert testimony.
  • Flexibility to travel to client sites and work beyond core business hours as needed.


Ideal Certifications/Accreditations

  • Life Care Planning certification
  • AAPC Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) certification*
  • Third Party valuation accreditation (e.g. CVA, ABV)
  • Accounting / CPA accreditation

*Note: If you do not have coding certifications, AccuMed will sponsor the certification.

Pay

Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000
