The Early College Specialist manages dual enrollment outreach efforts, guided pathway advising, programming, and support for dual enrolled students seeking to earn dual credit, workforce readiness credentials, accelerated college credit, and/or other postsecondary credentials. The Early College Specialist provides program guidance for cohorts of students seeking to earn a college degree while simultaneously completing a high school or homeschool diploma.Reporting Authority: Coordinator of Early College Programs

The essential job functions listed are not comprehensive and duties and responsibilities may change without notice.Serve as an active team member in the Office of Early College Programs and a dual enrollment resource for both internal and external stakeholders.Coordinate with high school partners, division chairs, faculty, the business office, and the campus bookstore in procu1ing course texts and/or materials for dual enrolled scholarship recipients.Provide individual and group advisement to assist students in the career and academic exploration and career decision - making process related to early college pathways.Serve as program advisor for dual enrolled students completing a pathway to a post-secondary credential.Work with the Coordinator of Early College Programs and Bishop State faculty to build guided pathways and crosswalk course equivalencies for dual enrolled students completing a certificate and/or associate degree program.Assist with determining dual enrollment admissions and scholarship eligibility and compliance monitoring.Introduce and support guided pathways to Bishop State stakeholders, including prospective students, parents and guardians, academy specialists, counselors, and other secondary and homeschool points of contact.Work to ensure that special registration assistance is provided for Early College Program students, including timely, in-person visits to area high schools to collect admission and registration mate1ials to meet specified registration deadlines.Maintain advising plans and review degree audits for students each enrollment period.Follow up on early ale1ts by communicating with students, counselors, facilitators, and faculty.Work with College business office to ensure accurate dual enrollment scholarship coding and billing.Serve as the first point-of-contact for applicants and students; provide assistance throughout the admissions process.Process enrollment applications and required enrollment forms and input enrollment data.Abide by the policies and procedures established by the College and by the Alabama Community College System. Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Instructional Services and/or the President.

Physical Demands & Work Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Learned physical skill is required for keyboarding. Frequent walking, standing, or sitting may be required. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.
