Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, regulatory compliance (accounting software (Quickbooks, ProSeries, Sage 50 a Plus). This role offers an opportunity to work across various accounting disciplines, including corporate, governmental, and non-profit sectors, contributing to accurate financial management and reporting within a dynamic organization.
Duties:
- MUST be fluent Spanish speaker, bilingual preference.
- Perform bookkeeping and accounting data entry for client accounts.
- Calculate and file Sales Tax returns with the Florida Department of Revenue.
- Bank Reconciliation
- Prepare and assist with financial statements and maintain accurate financial records.
- Process and manage payroll for multiple clients.
- Configure payrollsystems in Sage 50 including direct deposit, printedchecks, and payroll setup.
- Prepare and file quarterly payroll tax returns(Forms 941 and RT-6) and annual payrollforms (Forms 940, W-2, and 1099).
- Monitor filing deadlines and ensure timely submission of payroll taxes, sales tax, and other compliance requirements.
- Schedule tax payments weekly,monthly, or quarterlyas required.
- Maintain and prepare monthly client lists for scheduled Form 941 payments and Sales Tax filings.
- Createand set up companies within the accounting system (Sage 50).
- Register companies in Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) and complete enrollments with the Florida Department of Revenue for federal and state tax payments, including unemployment and sales tax.
- Assist with and coordinate audits including those conducted by the Internal Revenue Service, Florida Department of Revenue, Workers’ Compensation, liability insurance carriers, and business sale audits.
- Prepare and respond to official correspondence from the Internal RevenueService and the Florida Department of Revenue.
- Prepare bank letters and other official documentation as requested by clients.
- Complete employment verification documentation when required.
- Prepare and submitapplications for Workers’Compensation Exemption certificates.
- Coordinate with IT support or software providers when technical issues.
- Maintain awareness of client deadlinesand compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent certification preferred, but not a must.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, SOX compliance, and regulatory reporting standards.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as ProSeries, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft preferred, or similar platforms; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required.
- Familiarity with financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Experience with tax preparation or tax experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles (including LIHTC), securities law, wills & estate law is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports and conduct cash flow analysis.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Effective communication skills for preparing financial reports and collaborating across teams. Salary : $36,000 - $45,000
