The Controller will oversee all financial operations, inventory accounting, and cash flow management for a growing retail business in Scottsdale, Arizona. Reporting directly to the Owner, this hands-on leader will spearhead financial reporting, internal controls, and strategic budgeting to maximize profitability across all retail channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Oversight: Manage all accounting functions including GL, AP, AR, payroll, and monthly closing processes.
- Retail Analytics: Oversee inventory valuation, margin analysis, open-to-buy planning, and shrink controls.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor daily cash balances and provide accurate rolling cash flow forecasts to the Owner.
- Reporting & Compliance: Prepare timely monthly financial statements and manage local/state sales tax compliance.
- Strategic Advisory: Partner with the Owner to evaluate promotional performance, pricing strategies, and expansion plans.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a retail or e-commerce environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA is a plus).
- Skills: Advanced proficiency in retail ERP systems, inventory software, and Microsoft Excel.
