Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our growing accounting and advisory practice in Aberdeen, SD. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with a variety of small business clients, providing hands-on accounting support and evolving into higher-level advisory responsibilities. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, improving accounting processes, and delivering meaningful financial insights that help clients make informed business decisions.
This position is designed to grow with you—ranging from foundational accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities to more advanced advisory and controller-level work over time.
Duties
- Oversee and maintain accurate financial records for a variety of small business clients
- Perform interim review and clean-up of client books to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting functions, including:
- Bank and account reconciliations
- Sales tax reporting and compliance
- Financial reporting and analysis
- Posting adjusting journal entries
- Compile and deliver clear, meaningful financial reports to support client decision-making
- Assist in implementing modern accounting systems, workflows, and best practices
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline accounting processes
- Provide support to clients by answering questions related to QuickBooks and general accounting matters
- Communicate with clients to gather information, resolve issues, and provide ongoing support
- Take on increasing responsibility over time, with opportunities to grow into advisory and controller-level functions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop preferred (training available for the right candidate)
- Solid understanding of core accounting principles, including reconciliations and financial reporting
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or improvement opportunities
- Effective communication skills and ability to work directly with clients
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a dynamic environment
Pay: $25.00 - $60.00 per hour
