What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller - SaaS / Software Company position at Accountants One?
We're partnering with a growing SaaS company in Marietta on a Controller search. This is a hands-on, "one-person finance department" role — you'll own accounting, finance, and lightweight HR operations for the business, reporting directly to leadership. SaaS/software industry experience is a must.
What you'll do:
- Serve as the sole finance/accounting/HR resource, owning day-to-day operations end-to-end
- Lead the transition from cash-basis to accrual accounting, including revenue recognition under ASC 606
- Manage the general ledger, close process, and financial reporting in QuickBooks
- Track and report on SaaS metrics (MRR/ARR, deferred revenue, churn) to support leadership decision-making
- Build scalable finance processes and controls to support subscription-based growth
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, cash flow, and financial planning
- Payroll, benefits and 401(k) plan administration
- HR administration (recruiting logistics, onboarding, policies)
What we're looking for:
- 7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including hands-on Controller or Senior Accountant work
- SaaS or software industry experience is required
- ASC 606 revenue recognition
- Strong QuickBooks proficiency
- Comfort wearing multiple hats in a small-company environment
- HR/payroll exposure is a plus
