One of Accountants One’s best client relationships has a newly-created, Director-level role available. This is an exciting time to join a company just after a large acquisition and help build out a team as they integrate. This role will lead and develop a team of Plant and Regional Controllers as they lead plant-level financial operations with a focus on inventory costing, manufacturing performance, and internal controls within a SAP environment. This role partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Finance to ensure accurate inventory valuation, drive profitability insights, and support data-driven decision making.
- Own standard cost development and cost roll processes within SAP
- Analyze BOMs, routings, labor/overhead rates, and production variances
- Monitor and reconcile inventory across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
- Deliver actionable insights on plant performance, cost drivers, and margin improvement
- Maintain strong internal controls over inventory transactions and ensure SOX compliance
- Support audits and lead inventory reserve analysis, including excess and obsolete stock
- Serve as SAP FI/CO and MM subject matter expert for manufacturing and inventory accounting
- Drive accuracy in master data, costing runs, and production order settlement
- Partner with IT and business teams on system enhancements and process improvements
- Manage monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Prepare clear financial reporting and support strategic initiatives such as new product launches, capital projects, and operational improvements
The position leads and develops a team of accounting and SAP professionals, while building strong cross-functional partnerships and providing guidance to plant teams on financial processes and cost flows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required
- 8–10 years of experience in manufacturing, cost accounting, or operations finance
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP FI/CO and MM, including costing and production settlement, is highly preferred
- Deep understanding of standard costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing operations
- Experience with SOX controls, audit support, and process documentation
- Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to translate data into insights
- Experience in multi-plant or global manufacturing environments required
- Familiarity with tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, or BlackLine is a plus
- Continuous improvement mindset (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar) is highly valued
