Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ACI MTS Product Owner & Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead and manage our ACI MTS payments platform. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end functionality of the product, ensuring seamless payments initiation, validation, routing, and settlement, both domestically and cross-border transfers.

Responsibilities

ACI MTS Product Ownership & Expertise

• Act as the primary SME for ACI MTS, including:
• Payment’s initiation, validation, routing, and settlement
• Liquidity and account management
• Cut-off times, exception handling, and reconciliation
• Configure and manage MTS payment flows for domestic and cross-border transfers (RTGS, ACH, wires, SWIFT-based flows where applicable)
• Drive product upgrades, patches, and version migrations, ensuring zero or minimal disruption
  
  

Payments Processing & Operations

• Support high-availability, low-latency payment processing environments
• Troubleshoot complex production issues involving:
• Payment failures
• Settlement mismatches
• Queue backlogs
• Liquidity constraints
• Partner with operations teams to improve STP rates, throughput, and resilience
  

Integration & Architecture

• Design and oversee integrations between MTS and:
• Core banking systems
• Fraud and AML platforms
• Treasury, GL, and reconciliation systems
• External clearing and settlement networks
• Ensure correct use of message formats, adapters, and APIs within the MTS ecosystem
  

Compliance & Controls

• Ensure MTS configurations comply with:
• Regulatory requirements (e.g., AML, sanctions screening, auditability)
• Internal risk and operational controls
• Support audits, regulatory exams, and control testing involving payment flows
  

Stakeholder & Delivery Leadership

• Act as a trusted advisor to business, operations, and technology stakeholders
• Translate business payment requirements into MTS-aligned solutions
• Mentor junior team members and build internal MTS knowledge depth
• Work closely with ACI support and product teams for escalations and roadmap alignment
  
  

Requirements

Core Skills

• Extensive hands-on experience with ACI MTS in a production banking or payments environment
• Strong understanding of:
• Payment lifecycles and settlement mechanics
• Real-time and batch payment processing
• Exception handling and reconciliation
• Proven experience supporting mission-critical, high-volume payment platforms
• Deep knowledge of payments operations and controls
  
  

Technical & Functional Skills

• Experience with MTS configuration, workflows, and parameterization
• Understanding of:
• Messaging standards (ISO 20022, proprietary formats, SWIFT where applicable)
• Databases, batch processing, and scheduling
• Ability to read logs, analyze failures, and drive root-cause analysis
  
  

Domain Expertise

• Strong background in:
• Banking payments
• Clearing and settlement systems
• Treasury and liquidity management
• Experience in regulated financial institutions preferred
  
  

Preferred, But Not Required

• Experience working directly with ACI Worldwide support or professional services
• Exposure to other ACI products (e.g., UPF, PPF, Base24, Wires platforms)
• Prior role as payments platforms owner or lead SME
• ITIL-based production support experience
