Job Title: Head Start Center Manager/Family Partner

Starting wage $20.99-$33.40-Starting Wage Will Be $20.99

10 months, non-exempt

Generally 8:00am -3:30pm Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours required.

Coordinates the delivery of high-quality early childhood education and family support services by supporting parents and managing day to day operations of a Head Start Center licensed by New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and have experience recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and managing staff performance. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are a must. Successful candidate will have good interpersonal, problem solving, decision making, time management and organizational skills. Experience managing a childcare center is preferred. They must be committed to making a difference in the lives of children, families, and the communities in which we live/serve.

Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with relevant coursework preferred. One year of experience teaching in an early childhood education program; and one year of supervisory experience supervising staff in an early childhood education program preferred. Combination of education, Child Development Associate credential, Family Development Credential, and experience considered. *Within 18 months of hire, employee must possess, at a minimum, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field.

-Coordinates the delivery of high-quality early childhood education services by managing day to day center-based operations in compliance with applicable regulations and funding sources.

-Promotes each family’s development of assets by cooperatively planning and implementing family services including home visiting, screening, assessment, linkages to supportive services, service coordination, partnering with families to establish and achieve goals, and follow up services resulting in family progress documented on the self-sufficiency matrix, attainment of family generated goals and long term self-sufficiency.

-Promotes shared governance principles by assisting families in operating parent committee meetings, electing representatives for Policy Council, providing parent education services, building community partnerships, and encouraging volunteer opportunities where parents and community members can support the program through donated goods and services (inkind).

-Ensures that children and family’s individualized needs are met in the areas of school readiness/early education, health and safety, nutrition, mental health, disabilities, parent engagement, and transportation through effective planning, observation, and monitoring of services delivery and outcomes.

-Organizes and documents each child and family’s individual program planning and services delivery by maintaining up-to-date and accurate records in all service areas.

-Maintains a full caseload and waiting list by identifying, coordinating, and implementing recruitment activities and enrolling eligible children.

-Assists parents with accessing evaluation and special services for children with suspected delays by coordinating CPSE/EI referrals; providing advocacy and education; contributing to composition of specialized plans; and implementing recommendations.

-Analyzes data and prepares reports, resolves monitoring concerns, maintains open communication with the management team, and initiates quality improvement activities.

-Assures center safety by maintaining safe facilities and operations including conducting required facilities safety inspections, emergency drills, and child safety monitoring activities; resolving any concerns; serving as the site’s back up Safety Team Leader by attending meetings and reporting to the agency Safety Committee in the absence of the Safety Team Leader; and creating a culture of safety and accountability at the center.

-Develops and maintains staff, including coordinating substitute coverage, by providing direct supervision; securing substitute coverage for staff vacancies and staff taking time off; recruiting and hiring qualified applicants, transferring, disciplining, coaching, and appraising job results; providing onboarding, training, and monitoring ongoing professional development; resolving areas of concern, and maintaining team morale.

- This is a full-time ten-month position.
