Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage the front desk, including answering multi-line phones with professional phone etiquette
- Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring accurate billing and claims processing
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical history and updating health information in EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
- Maintain organized medical records, perform filing, and review documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Support medical billing by coding procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10/ICD-9 codes, and managing collections for outstanding balances
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries, explaining treatment plans, and ensuring a positive clinic experience
Requirements
- Proven clinic or medical office experience, particularly in chiropractic
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and insurance verification processes
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and 10-key typing for data entry tasks
- Exceptional organizational skills with experience in medical records management and documentation review
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Strong customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and a friendly demeanor
- Ability to handle sensitive health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Office management skills including scheduling, filing, and multi-line phone system operation
