Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Patient Access Representative to join our Patient Access team. This role is essential in ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for patients by managing appointments, verifying insurance, collecting payments, and supporting provider schedules. You’ll be the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in building trust and rapport.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule patient appointments and accurately enter data into the system.
- Collect and verify demographic, insurance, and financial information.
- Explain and obtain signatures for required forms.
- Ensure compliance with medical necessity and authorization requirements.
- Collect patient payments and establish payment arrangements.
- Post payments and generate receipts.
- Resolve patient account issues and maintain thorough documentation.
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, providers, and staff.
- Meet performance metrics and participate in team projects and meetings.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Typing proficiency required.
- Bilingual in Mandarin preferred.
- 1 year of experience in a medical setting or 3 years in customer service/reception preferred.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Familiarity with office equipment and basic billing/insurance principles.
- Willingness to work alternative shifts, weekends, and travel to multiple locations as needed.
- Commitment to confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
Physical & Work Environment
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
- Moderate noise level; indoor work environment.
- May require standing, walking, sitting, and other physical activities.
- Regular schedule may include early mornings and Saturdays based on department needs.
