Role: Senior Optical Engineer responsible for designing, testing, and operating complex optical systems supporting critical defense missions, including missile warning, space domain awareness, and space control.

- Lead optical system design, alignment, and testing in laboratory environments.
- Manage and operate Class 3b and 4 laser systems, ensuring safety compliance.
- Perform radiometric analysis and characterize optical power and signals.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate laboratory instrumentation and electronics.
- Develop automation scripts to streamline testing processes.
- Integrate and characterize sensitive detectors like APD, GmAPD, and SPCDs.
- Interface with customers, provide technical updates, and translate requirements into hardware specs.
- Author technical reports, test plans, and data summaries.
- Maintain hardware integrity within cleanroom standards.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with extensive relevant experience; Doctorate preferred.
- Active security clearance (SECRET or higher).
- Expertise in optical metrology, signal analysis, and precision instrumentation.
- Proficiency in laser safety, cleanroom environments, and electronics automation.
- Hands-on experience with optical alignment, detector technologies, and radiometry.
- Preferred: experience with telescope design, proposal support, advanced scripting, space-qualified hardware, and opto-mechanical integration.
