What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Manager position at Access Search, Inc.?
We’re looking for a Payroll Manager to oversee daily payroll operations and own the full process with a focus on compliance and process improvements. This role owns payroll processing and reporting while overseeing a small team and partnering closely with finance, HR, and operations. This role is onsite 5 days a week.
What You’ll Do
- Lead weekly payroll processing from review through final approval, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Manage off-cycle and special payrolls
- Oversee payroll reporting tied to union, regulatory, and compliance requirements
- Ensure payroll data, tax calculations, and payments are accurate and submitted on time
- Manage year-end payroll activities, filings, and reconciliations
- Maintain payroll systems, support integrations, and ensure ongoing data accuracy
- Establish and enhance payroll procedures, controls, and documentation
- Lead payroll audits, reporting requests, and process improvement initiatives
- Supervise and develop payroll staff through training, delegation, and review
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 7 years payroll experience, including leadership or full-cycle ownership
- At least 2 years management experience
- Experience supporting complex payroll environments with compliance requirements
- Strong understanding of payroll taxes, reporting, and audit support
- Ability to balance hands-on payroll work with team leadership
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working under deadlines
- Clear communicator who partners well across functions
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
