What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing /Collections Specialist position at Access Healthcare Physicians, LLC?
Position summary:
Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, sales and piecework, taxes, insurance, union dues to be withheld and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records.
Tasks:
· Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
· Answers questions for patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
· Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
· Prepares, reviews and sends patient statements.
· Evaluates patient’s financial status and establishes budget payment plans. Follows and reports status of delinquent accounts.
· Reviews accounts for possible assignment.
· Performs various collection actions.
· Processes payments from insurance companies.
· Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
· Performs other duties as directed.
Skills:
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
· Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Ability to read and comprehend, interpret departmental procedures.
· Proven customer service experience.
· Ability to use all office equipment. Proficiency with computer applications including: Microsoft Office.
· Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions in a timely manner from staff, consumers, and internal and external customers.
· Effective organizational skills a must.
· Strives to build cooperative partnerships, maintain effective working relationships with other personnel, by treating each person both inside and outside of the organization as a customer.

Experience and Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or zero to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Billing and insurance knowledge.
- Moderate knowledge of Medicare rules.
- Knowledge of HIPAA rules
Physical Requirements: Must be able to frequently move, stand, sit, bend, stoop kneel or crouch. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. The noise level of the work environment is quiet to moderate.
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
