What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Communications and Member Engagement position at Access Energy Cooperative?
Access Energy Cooperative is an electric distribution cooperative serving members in parts of 10 counties in southeast Iowa. Access Energy Cooperative is seeking candidates for a Director of Communications and Member Engagement position. Reporting directly to the General Manager/CEO, this position will lead the Cooperative’s strategic communication and digital engagement initiatives in addition to managing the Member Services department.
What you need/preferred to have:
- A minimum 4 year degree in communications, public relations, marketing, digital media, journalism, or related field
- 2-5 years of experience in digital media, public relations, or communications. Experience in the utility or energy sector is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools, including content management systems, social media platforms, and basic graphic/video editing software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn industry specific software
What you will do:
- Develop and lead communication strategies that support cooperative goals.
- Create and manage digital content.
- Develop timely communications during outages, storms and emergency situations.
- Analyze communication effectiveness and member perception.
- Build and nurture relationships with key audiences such as local media, community leaders, schools, and elected officials.
- Coordinate planning and promotion of cooperative events, annual meeting, and outreach initiatives.
- Administer the scholarship program.
- Manage energy conservation, renewable energy, and incentive programs.
- Develop and supervise economic development programs.
- Lead key account initiatives.
- Occasionally work outside normal business hours.
