Acceptional Minds is currently seeking a Full Time School Coordinator with availability during our service hours of 7am-5pm M-F and filling in occasionally for Saturday programming 10-5 as needed.

This position will join our School Coordinator team providing hands-on educational and programming support on the floor working with our Acceptional Academy Clients.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversees work of all center staff members working directly with clients.
  • Addresses minor disciplinary problems with team members and refers more serious cases to Human Resources and/or the Director of Services or Assistant Director of Services.
  • Leads the planning and preparation of training and orientation for new basic support and advanced support specialists on the floor.

Duties and Responsibilities

Plans and schedules activities that enhance existing programming.

  • Assists team members with programming.
  • Provides written and visual directions for activities.
  • Trains staff members in programming techniques using the Gradual Release of Responsibility Model.

Maintains contact and creates a connection with clients and their support systems (family, school, etc.) as directed by the Communication and Behavior Administrative Advisors, the Assistant Director of Student Services, the Director of Services, and the Assistant Director of Services.

  • Sends emails as directed and in a timely manner.
  • Ensures daily sheets are filled out, scanned up, and sent home with clients.
  • Addresses any concerns at pick up.
  • Updates and informs supervisors of no call/no shows.
  • Seeks written permission for events, outings, etc.

Maintains contact and effectively communicates with clients’ home school districts.

  • Is involved in meetings between different programs.
  • Collaborates with school districts, counties, families, and employees to support clients.
  • Ensures that all goals are up to date and agreed upon.

Communicates center programming updates and information internally and externally.

  • Prepares client updates.
  • Gives weekly client updates to case workers.
  • Provides staff with relevant client updates daily.
  • Gives relevant updates to supervisors.

Maintains appropriate client, family, and company confidentiality.

Supports staff members on the floor.

  • Picks up or fills shifts when staff members cannot find a suitable replacement.
  • Limits time in office to be present on the floor.
  • Admin time should be at the beginning or ending of a shift.
  • Admin time should be limited to 20% of a shift spent in the building for no more than 8 hours per week.
  • Additional admin time is approved by the Director of Services
  • Assists in de-escalations as needed.
  • Taps out and gives staff breaks as needed.

Keeps the center clean and organized.

  • Ensures daily center cleaning.
  • Ensures resource upkeep and organization.
  • Follows opening and closing procedures.

Performs initial intakes of clients, including initial goals and behavioral support plans.

  • Writes goals and daily sheets for every client assigned.
  • attend IEP meetings with the entire support team every 4 - 6 weeks and maintain IEP goals through programming.

Performs other related duties and tasks as assigned.

Candidate Requirements & Preferences:

  • Demonstrated ability to follow Handle with Care and Ukeru guidelines
  • Strong verbal de-escalation skills
  • Advanced ability to accurately write incident reports and follow guidelines
  • Ability to lead staff through escalations and debrief with them afterwards
  • Ability to future plan
  • Ability to be flexible with programming to meet individual client needs
  • Exceptional divided attention skills 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Understanding and knowledge of working with a diverse population of staff, as well as clients and their support systems.
  • Ability to plan schedules within center ratios and adjust as needed.
  • Must be over 18 and posses a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

*Must be able to safely perform a restraint under the training and guidance of Handle with Care training

*Prolonged periods of standing and walking.

*Must be able to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, push, and pull to assist children throughout the day.

*Must be able to lift to 10lbs routinely and up to 50lbs occasionally
