ACCEPT Education Collaborative is a regional non-profit educational organization with locations in Medway and Natick, MA. ACCEPT provides a wide range of programs and services including special education for students with moderate to severe needs, specialized transportation, home-based services, behavioral and educational consultation, and professional development. ACCEPT offers a continuum of programs and services Prek-12 and to age 22 for both students in life skills and Therapeutic programs. Our programs address autism spectrum disorders, emotional/behavioral needs, global impairments, cognitive/intellectual disabilities, language disorders, ADHD/ADD, and nonverbal learning disability.
Position Summary: Provides direct reading instruction for students within all of ACCEPT Programs.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.)
DESE License in current standing
Minimum 2 years of experience teaching children with language based learning disabilities and/or young adults with special needs, preferably in a school environment
Experience in providing direct instruction, consulting to staff, developing curriculum
Comprehensive understanding of state and federal regulations pertaining to Special Education Specific skills and/or competence required
Flexibility, collaboration and a “growth mindset”
Ability to multi-task and perform a range of instructional and administrative duties
Strong written and oral communication skills
Attention to detail
Qualifications Desired
Master’s Degree in Education or a related field
Certified in a sequential phonics based program (i.e. Wilson, Orton Gillingham)

Physical Demands And Work Environment
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to walk, sit, use hands to type, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, bend, walk up and down stairs, talk, hear, see, stand for prolonged periods of time, lift up to 25lbs (books, etc), and required to perform physical restraint of a student at times of behavioral escalation; routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, copy machines, fax, phones, shredders and filing cabinets.
Work Environment: This work is performed in a school environment with an acceptable level of noise.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Design and implement high quality instruction to students with reading needs including mild-moderate reading disabilities
- Administer and interpret both standardized and informal reading assessments to determine reading needs
- Provide explicit instruction using evidence based reading intervention practices to students with identified reading needs
- Utilize assessment data to monitor student progress, including development of Individualized Education Program goals
- Attend and participate in IEP Team Meetings (annual, initial, 3-year re-evaluation, interim) as needed
- Collaborate with special education colleagues, and members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure cohesive IEP implementation and service delivery
- Facilitate an inclusive model of special education within ACCEPT community (provide resources, model best practices, disseminate strategies, etc.).
- Utilize instructional and assistive technology for students, as needed.
- Participate in professional development that is specific to the mission of ACCEPT and responsive to the needs of our student population.
- Maintain ongoing communication with parents and colleagues.
- Adhere strictly to timelines for the completion and submission of all required paperwork.
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism at all times (attendance, punctuality, dress, written and oral communication, etc.).
