Duties
- Prepare and submit insurance claims using billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Review medical records, coding, and documentation to verify the correct application of CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes for billing purposes
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies and escalate issues as needed
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, claim statuses, and patient accounts in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies to facilitate accurate reimbursements
- Stay updated on changes in health insurance policies, coding standards, and billing regulations to ensure ongoing compliance
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries related to billing and insurance coverage promptly and professionally
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding systems, and DRG classifications
- Proficiency with billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting
- Experience with healthcare claims management processes from submission to reimbursement
