Your Impact

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing the company’s employee safety at work, specifically project sites. Their main duty is to ensure that the company complies and adheres to both Accelevation and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries. Additionally, they will assist with facilitating the training of Field Operations trade team members to support the expansion of knowledge and certifications at the trade level. The Safety Coordinator is the first line of oversight for the trade team in regards to safe operations and conduct on the project site.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Promote safety performance, at every opportunity, as a core value of the organization, equal to all other business considerations.
  • Implement, monitor, and review company safety programs, and work with Director of Safety to augment as needed.
  • Be familiar with and receive training on current federal and state OSHA regulations and owner requirements as necessary to aid each job site and work area.
  • Provide safety approval for protective clothing, tools, machinery, and testing equipment. Ensure appropriate maintenance on any testing equipment.
  • Conduct frequent and regular job site safety audits. Stop work immediately if imminent danger exists.
  • Conduct and review safety inspections completed by Superintendent, Foreman, Project Managers, and third-party entities, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Participate in any regulatory inspections and review, address, and defend all alleged regulatory violations.
  • Ensure that all employees receive and maintain safety training appropriate to their job responsibilities.
  • Evaluate employee attitudes, opinions, and overall awareness pertaining to this program.
  • Enforce safety program compliance with disciplinary action in accordance with the Disciplinary Policy.
  • Assist pre-construction and estimating departments with project pre-qualification packets, client contract reviews, and subcontractor pre-qualification to identify potential risk as well as develop risk mitigation solutions.
  • Oversee, monitor, and ensure the completeness and accuracy of accident reports and investigations.
  • Coordinate and monitor the medical treatment of injured employees and the return-to-work program. Communicate with insurance carriers on all claims and work with the Project Manager in resolving, mitigating, and defending such claims.
  • Enforce the company’s Substance Abuse Policy.
  • Administer the company’s Safety Recognition Program.
  • Assist with collection, analyzing, and maintaining records of safety statistics, and maintain injury/illness/exposure records.
Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in Construction Safety, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of safety management, with a proven track record of implementing effective safety programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience managing and mentoring tradesman.
  • Self-starter that takes initiative to seek work and broaden scope and depth of knowledge.
  • Ability to work well with minimum supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Willingness to travel to construction sites as needed, often for extended durations.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Professional certification preferred (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST).
  • OSHA 30 and OSHA 510.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Employees must be able to hear, speak, and communicate effectively. Work occurs in data center environments with potential exposure to electrical hazards, noise, and varying temperatures. Flexible hours, including nights and weekends, may be required.
  • Physical requirements include bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead. Must lift at least 50 lbs, raise arms above shoulder level, and perform overhead work for extended periods. The ability to climb and carry ladders (up to 12 ft), navigate stairways, and work at heights up to 90 ft using ladders, scaffolds, or lifts is essential.
  • Employees must access restricted areas (e.g., switchgear rooms, vaults, tunnels, crawl spaces) and wear full PPE. Good vision and hearing (normal or corrected) and accurate color identification are required. Some projects may lack food facilities, so bringing meals and snacks is necessary.
