Position Summary
This position is responsible for managing relationships with suppliers, ensuring efficient inventory management, strategic sourcing, and driving cost reduction initiatives. This is a senior buying role, and will require building reports, analyzing data, and making recommendations for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure raw materials, components, production supplies, and services required to support manufacturing operations.
- Issue and manage purchase orders in accordance with production schedules and inventory requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance related to pricing, quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory
- Research and identify qualified suppliers and evaluate quotations based on cost, quality, and lead time.
- Demonstrated success in Supply Chain and Materials Management
- Bachelor’s degree required or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with specific experience with MRP/ERP, planning, production & inventory control, and sourcing/procurement. Epicor Kinetic preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and data driven expertise to make decisions.
- Project Management, Operational Excellence, and/or Lean/Six Sigma experience preferred.
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment including laptops, keyboards, monitors and phones.
- The employee is required to sit at a desk/work area for extended periods of time.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal; preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; extensive reading.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
