Job Functions:
Reviews patient’s family history and explains hereditary risks; counsels regarding cancer and related hereditary risk factors.
Advises patients of screening procedures and prevention strategies.
Provides health care providers with referral information and discussion about hereditary cancers and diagnostic testing.
Provides genetic counseling for breast cancer, colon cancer, and other hereditary cancers.
Coordinates genetic tests with other centers and labs as necessary.
Provides follow-up to referring physicians and patients regarding test results, summaries of consultation sessions, and appropriate recommendations.
Provides community education about genetic counseling and related information.
Engages and participates in departmental research as appropriate.
Performs miscellaneous administrative paperwork.
Works as a team member with physicians, nurses, social workers, other genetic counselors, and office staff.

Requirement
- Master's Degree from a genetic counseling training program approved by the American Board of Genetic Counseling required.
- One year of experience in Genetic Counseling required
- Epic experience Preferred
- American Board of Genetic Counseling Certification required
- Washington Genetic Counselor License-Provisional or Permanent required.
Required Experience:
Well rounded experience dealing with genetic disorders including: cancer risk assessment, ordering and interpreting genetic test results, and providing psychosocial assessment and support.
Preferred Experience:
1 year working with patients at risk for hereditary cancer.
Salary : $50 - $52
