Role Description The Tax Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Shelton, CT. This position is responsible for overseeing tax compliance and planning for individual and business clients, including reviewing and preparing complex federal, state, and local tax returns. The Tax Manager will research and interpret tax laws, advise clients on tax strategies, and identify opportunities to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring adherence to regulations. Day-to-day tasks include supervising and mentoring staff, reviewing work for accuracy and completeness, managing client engagements and deadlines, and maintaining clear communication with clients regarding tax matters. The role also involves supporting firm initiatives, contributing to process improvements, and participating in ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
- Strong tax compliance skills, including Tax Compliance and Tax Preparation for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
- Expertise in tax planning, including Tax Planning and broader Tax advisory to optimize client tax positions.
- In-depth knowledge of Tax Law and current tax regulations, with the ability to research and apply complex rules.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred; bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Several years of progressive public accounting experience in tax, including managing client engagements and supervising staff.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tax concepts to clients in clear terms.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and general accounting applications; strong Excel skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional ethics, client service, and continuous learning.
