JOB SUMMARY
The Maple Tree Village Activity Assistant is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the community Activity Programs including the safe operation of transportation vehicles for outings and joy rides, and the safe delivery of residents to and from assigned destinations. Ensures that programs, as scheduled on a daily basis, meet the comprehensive needs and interest of all Maple Tree Village Residents. This person will report to the Life Enrichment Manager and is hourly, non-exempt.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Assists Life Enrichment Manager in planning, organizing, implementing various activity programs.
- Meets residents' needs and interests considering resident’s abilities and physical limitations.
- Drives residents for activity outings & shopping as needed.
- Helps serving residents during mealtimes as needed,
- Participates in the residents’ service plan of care and documents residents’ specific needs.
- Documents attendance at activities.
- Sets up and operates various equipment such as microphones, keyboards, TV monitors, projection systems, etc.; maintains systems to include preventative maintenance.
- Works with volunteer staff to ensure smooth operations of activities programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills; bi-lingual a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel & Word).
- Ability to work evenings and weekends required.
- Licensed driver with a clean driving record.
- 21 years of age for per company vehicle insurance requirements.
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in social services / related field preferred; activities certificate a plus.
- One year experience in assisted living, skilled nursing or related health care field .
- Knowledge of geriatric residents and Dementia resident needs .
- Knowledge of state regulations including Title XXII .
- Familiar with medical terminology, health care facilities and services.
