If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you! The American Council of the Blind Thrift Store is looking for a friendly, motivated Sales Associate/Cashier to join our team and make a real impact—one customer at a time.
About the Role
This position averages around 35 hours per week, with shifts primarily scheduled for the opening shift on weekdays with some weekend shifts occasionally . It’s a great fit for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and meaningful work.
What You’ll Do
As a Sales Associate/Cashier, you’ll be a key part of creating a welcoming, retail experience for our customers by:
- Greeting customers warmly and providing outstanding service
- Building positive relationships with customers, donors, and teammates
- Operating the cash register and completing opening/closing procedures
- Helping keep the store clean, organized, and safe
- Assisting with merchandise display, inventory, pricing, and markdowns
- Maintaining professional attendance, appearance, and hygiene standards
- Pitching in wherever needed to keep our store running smoothly
What We’re Looking For

- A passion for delivering excellent customer service
- Ability to work independently and make quick decisions
- Strong communication skills
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Physical Requirements
- Work indoors in a retail setting
- Stand for extended periods; bend, stoop, and move throughout the store
- Frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds
- Reach items at or above shoulder height
