We are growing healthcare company adding positions to our team! The Payroll Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising the payroll functions for Acara Healthcare. Ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations and multiple pay periods.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manages, directs, and encourages staff.
- Develops a knowledgeable and forward-thinking department with open communications and teamwork.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Train and develops team members effectively.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions within ADP Workforce Now including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Project management.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Preparation and filing of quarterly and annual tax returns, BLS reports, etc.
- Attend continuing education workshops to remain up to date on the latest payroll practices and technologies.
- Document payroll procedures and policies and update when necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

- Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset clients, family members, staff, visitors, etc. under all conditions/circumstances.
- May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, blood or blood borne pathogens and will require OSHA training.
- Communicate with medical staff, nursing staff, and other unit supervisors.
- Maintains a liaison with residents, their families, support staff, etc. to assure that the residents’ needs are continually met.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, required.
- Five years of related payroll experience required.
- Experienced in Project management and System implementations.
- Experience with Sage 50 systems a plus.
- Experience with QuickBooks systems a plus.
- Experience with Accounting CS systems a plus.
- Experience with startups a plus.
- Experience building systems and processes from scratch a must.
