Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Workers to provide essential support and assistance to individuals with diverse needs, including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those requiring memory or dementia care. Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Supervise medication administration following prescribed care plans and ensure proper documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to track health status and report changes to healthcare professionals.
- Support residents with memory care needs, dementia or Alzheimer's care by implementing behavioral management strategies and engaging them in activities that promote cognitive function.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen area.
- Operate specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers and assist with heavy lifting when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks, including cleaning resident areas and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Provide transportation for appointments or outings when required, adhering to safety regulations and driving policies.
- Demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology, HIPAA regulations for patient privacy, and basic first aid procedures to ensure high standards of patient care.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home care settings, or with individuals who have disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Knowledge of caregiving practices related to brain injured patients, Alzheimer's disease, dementia care, and behavioral management techniques.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting and operating patient transfer equipment safely.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record if transportation duties are involved.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification upon hire is expected.
- Strong communication skills coupled with patience, empathy, and conflict management abilities.
