Overview
Vantage Point Behavioral Health Hospital is hiring a Speech Therapist to be a part of our fast-paced and dedicated, innovative team.
This position is a 1099 Contractor role. The individual engaged for this role will provide services under a contractual agreement and is responsible for compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing independent contractors. Contractor Requirements:- Must maintain current professional liability (malpractice) insurance and provide proof of coverage.
- Must maintain all required Arkansas licensure, certifications, and continuing education necessary to perform services.
- Operates as an independently established professional and retains control over the manner and means of performing services, subject to applicable clinical, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
- Is not eligible for employee benefits, including but not limited to health insurance, paid leave, retirement plans, workers’ compensation, or unemployment insurance.
- Is solely responsible for all federal and Arkansas state taxes, including self‑employment taxes.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Evaluate patients’ levels of speech, language or swallowing difficulty and identify treatment options.
- Create and carry out an individualized treatment plan that addresses patient specific functional needs.
- Teach children and adults how to make sounds and improve their voice and maintain fluency.
- Help individuals improve vocabulary and sentence structure used in oral and written language.
- Work with children and adults to develop and strengthen the muscles used to swallow.
- Counsel individuals and families on how to cope with communication and swallowing disorder.
- Administer hearing or speech and language evaluations, tests or examinations to patients to collect information on type and degree of impairments, using written or oral tests or special instruments.
- Educate patients and family members about various topics, such as communication techniques or strategies to cope with or to avoid personal misunderstandings.
- Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Speech Language Pathology or similar, as required by the state and acceptable for licensure required.
- One or more years’ experience working with population of the facility preferred.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current active professional license or eligible for endorsement by the state in which the facility provides services.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility.
