Duties

• Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases in a friendly, professional manner
• Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately to process transactions efficiently
• Handle cash, credit/debit card payments, and perform cash handling duties with precision
• Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities
• Conduct product demos when needed to educate customers about new or featured items
• Maintain organized merchandising displays and stock shelves to ensure an inviting shopping environment
• Manage stock levels by assisting with stocking and inventory checks throughout your shift
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction
• Demonstrate phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting customers over the phone
• Support team members with supervising experience by helping train new staff or guiding peers as needed
• Approach customers at checkout with a simple, value-focused introduction to the store card
• Promote exclusive in-store benefits like instant discounts
• Highlight easy approval processes and quick application right at the register
• Emphasize rewards tied directly to store purchases, such as points, cashback, or loyalty perks
• Offer financial tools like purchase tracking, digital statements, and account alerts for convenience
• Explain how the card can help manage larger purchases with special financing or installment options
• Reinforce immediate value (e.g., “save today when you sign up”) to drive quick decisions
• Address concerns upfront, including interest rates, payment expectations, and responsible usage
• Encourage repeat visits by showcasing ongoing perks tied to card membership

Skills

• Proficiency with POS systems and basic retail math for accurate transactions
• Strong communication skills to engage effectively with diverse customers and team members
• Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve our diverse community better
• Experience in grocery store or retail sales environments preferred
• Knowledge of merchandising, stocking, and product presentation techniques
• Customer service skills that emphasize patience, active listening, and problem-solving
• Ability to perform cashiering duties swiftly while maintaining accuracy under pressure
• Familiarity with upselling strategies to maximize sales opportunities
• Excellent phone etiquette for professional communication over the phone
