Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL. The K&1 Dual Language Elementary Teacher (Spanish/English) will create and deliver dynamic instructional experiences in both Spanish and English, supporting students in all aspects of their academic, social, and emotional growth. This role involves developing and implementing a bilingual curriculum, fostering a culture of inquiry, and building a nurturing environment that aligns with AGC’s mission and values. Teachers collaborate closely with families, administrators, and other educators to ensure the success and well-being of all students. The position starts in December 2025/January 2026.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching: Uses various modes of learning to accommodate different learning styles: real-life experiences, current events, technology, arts and more
  • Instructional Strategies: Uses many types of instructional strategies including teaching through inquiry, differentiating instruction and using data to guide planning
  • Technology Integration: Incorporates technology across all disciplines where appropriate
  • Professional Development: Participates in coaching cycle, stays abreast of latest techniques and demonstrates an eagerness to learn new skills and share experiences with others
  • Curriculum Development: Works closely with coach, other teachers to align curriculum with Common Core Learning Standards, the IB PYP, and achieving the goals of the school
  • Performance Assessment: Sets high and measurable goals for student achievement and evaluates student progress using summative and formative assessments
  • Community: Encourages the use of community resources, cooperates with families in welcoming them to our community, and maintains solid communication with all community members


Required Skills and Experience:

  • 2 years experience as an educator
  • Bilingual and biliterate (English/Spanish) - Required
  • Familiarity with IB program or desire to learn
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based teaching and Responsive Classroom (ideal)
  • Believer in culturally relevant teaching
  • Strong communication skills and personal drive
  • Ability to maintain a safe, orderly environment
  • Experience with accommodating students with 504s/IEPs in the classroom


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Education
  • Master’s Degree in Education or related fields (ideal)
  • State of Illinois Teaching Certificate (ideal)
  • Endorsement in Bilingual/ESL instruction (ideal)

Compensation:
