What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender position at AC Hotel by Marriott Pittsburgh/Southpointe?
Job Purpose:
Sell and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests who are of legal drinking age in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Maintain a clean, organized and bar stocked to established par levels. Ensure compliance with Commonwealth of Pennsylvania law and company standard operating procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Inform F&B Manager or MOD of need to new bottles of liquor or supplies.
2. Recognize levels of intoxication and prevent guests from becoming intoxicated.
3. Turn on/off promotional signage.
4. Maintain a safe work environment at all times.
5. Inform guests of available food and beverage specials and practice suggestive selling techniques with regards to food and beverage.
6. Restock bar supplies such as dry goods, glassware, juices, sodas and garnishes as needed.
7. Assist in maintaining cleanliness to the bar and lounge areas and equipment, televisions, photos, signage, tables, chairs, bar top and under-bar.
8. Records sales by ringing exact amounts into register utilizing the POS menu.
9. Fill orders from restaurant servers from a POS chit only.
10. Greet guests in a courteous and hospitable manner.
11. Prepare beer and/or liquor reconciliations as directed by management.
12. Set up bar area and seating area prior to opening.
13. Check opening inventory and note any shortages and changes to management.
14. Pour and dispense alcoholic beverages to guests of legal age in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
15. Rotate stock and re-stock bar coolers with inventory from beverage cooler.
16. Communicate with the F&B Manager on a regular basis.
17. Other duties as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned. Participate in hotel task forces and committees as requested.
Job Requirements:
1. High School Diploma or equivalency.
2. Must be at least 21 years of age.
3. Minimum of 1 – 3 years of guest service experience combined with hospitality industry and bar experience is required.
4. Interpersonal skills require the ability to often deal with situations where the satisfactory resolution of issues must be achieved.
5. Ability to lift and move 50 lbs. without restriction.
6. Communication and writing skills that can obtain and transfer basic types of factual information.
7. Ability of operate a POS system. Aloha experience is a plus.
